Marc Chagall was born on July 7, 1887 in Vitebsk. His father would be a salesman of herring. There were eight children in the family, Marc Chagall was the first-born. He got his initial education at cheder’s Judaic main school. In autumn, 1900 Marc Chagall visited the town's four-year trade school. At the age of 17 he left this school. In those days M. Chagall got significantly interested in painting. The well-known artist of Vitebsk Juriy Pen admitted the son in his studio. Marc Chagall was attending the studio regularly for two months exactly where he copied ornaments and plaster heads according his teacher's directions. Despite the brief course of studies he adored his teacher as much as the final times of his life. After his studies under J.Pen’s guidance Marc Chagall started to work as a retoucher, but art of painting remained the primary thing in the lifetime of this young man. He produced sketches as well as J.Pen and in 1907 Marc Chagall visited St.Petersburg to keep his studies. Then he joined the institute of the Arts Encouragement Society. Marc Chagall spent 2 yrs on this school. In 1910 he started attending Ekaterine Zvantseva Art institute. Mstislav Dobuzinsky and Leon Bakst had been his teachers there. But the well-known Maxim Vinaker and public figure Russian lawyer was the first to note and pointed out upcoming-artist Marc Chagall, and become its patron. Marc Chagall moved in the well-known Hive on Montparnasse in Paris. A month later he returned to Russia. Marc Chagall was married Bella Rosenfeld on 25th of July, 1915, she was a daughter of a jeweller. Bella was not only a beloved lady, the mother of his daughter, the mistress of his house for him, and an inspiration as well. After returning Russia in 1914 to get married with Bella, Marc Chagall failed to get back to France due to the Initial World War. He was served and mobilized in Petrograd in the Central Industry-Military Committee exactly where his wife’s brother was head of the Division. Marc Chagall reached Vitebsk as an Art commissar of the Vitebsk region. The primary objective of Marc Chagall was the foundation of Art School in Vitebsk. It was opened on the 28th of January, 1918 due to the fantastic enthusiasm and hard work of Marc Chagall. Mstislav Dobuzinsky, Marc Chagall’s educator in St. Petersburg, was the top of the Art School. On the 29th of June, 1920 Marc Chagall left Vitebsk for Moscow with his family. At the end of Might, 1921 the artist visited Kaunas for his exhibition organization. In time 1922 Marc Chagall went to Berlin from Kaunas. In 1923 Kassirer was able to publish only illustrations as there were problems connected using the translation of the memoirs into German. The total publication of Marc Chagall's memorable moments was realized in 1931 by the Paris public-house. The translation of the text into French was carried out by Bella Chagall. During his long life (as he was 98 years old when he died) Marc Chagall skilled a lot of: success and failure, richness and poverty, the globe fame and indifference. But he was missing out on only one thing - acknowledgment in the motherland. It triggered him a lot suffering. But times flies as well as in January, 1991 the Marc Chagall’s first Festival took location in Vitebsk. The monument to Marc Chagall was raised (June 1992) in Pokrovskaja Street and a commemorative inscription was done about the wall of his home. IN Vitebsk the plain-air and musical festivals of Marc Chagall are held annually. |
