The Prodigal Son, as well called the Lost Son, is one of the top recognized parables of Jesus. It appears only inside the Gospel of Luke inside the New Testament from the Bible (Luke 15:11-32). It is the third and final member of a trilogy, following the Parable of the Lost Sheep and the Parable of the Lost Coin. In Western tradition, this parable is normally continued reading the 3rd Sunday of Lent. The Church in Eastern Orthodox usually reads the tale on the Sunday from the Prodigal Son.

The parable starts with a man, younger of two sons, who ask his father to give him his share from the estate. The story continues in telling how the younger son moves to some isolated country and devastated the entire cash in natural living.
